With one out in the top of the 6th inning Thursday night at Petco Park, Seth Smith worked a walk against Padres starter Colin Rea – and thus began the largest comeback win in Mariners club history. At that point, the Mariners trailed the Padres, 12-2, but over the course of the next 18 at-bats, Seattle would score 14 runs on 12 hits on the way to a 16-13 victory.
“Everybody was involved in this win,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. “It really says a lot about this team…I can’t say enough about our guys and their belief in each other.
