Describing the somewhat new phenomenon of requiring a credit card on file for medical appointments. “The best analogy is a hotel. No decent hotel is going to rent any room without a credit card. In addition to charging your card from room and taxes, the hotel authorizes additional charges for "incidentals." This is what CVS MinuteClinic does. Except in states they're required to accept cash for Medicaid patients, patients pay their co-pay using a credit or debit card which is also charged for any residual balance after the claim is processed.
