The mystery is over. The Mariners’ new manager will be former Angels’ assistant GM Scott Servais.
Not sure how to feel about the move? You’re not alone. Media members and fans alike were intrigued by the hire, but weren’t willing to applaud the team’s new manager quite yet. It’s hard to blame them either. As Ryan Divish pointed out on Twitter, Servais becomes the Mariners’ seventh manager since their last postseason appearance.
And while Servais seemingly comes with a strong analytical background and a solid foundation with new GM Jerry Dipoto, he also has never managed in the big-leagues before.
