One thing that has been evident early in the baseball season – besides me being right about Trevor Story – is the new slide rule at second base. Some people call it the Utley rule for Chase Utley, who took out Mets’ shortstop Ruben Tejada and broke his leg in the playoffs last year on a questionable break-up of a double play. That seems to be the impetus for the change.
So far there have been mixed reviews. There have been two games decided by the slide rule upon replay review.
