Pregame: James Paxton will make another start for the Mariners

SAN DIEGO — James Paxton will have another chance to prove to general manager Jerry Dipoto and manager Scott Servais that he can pitch to the obvious potential and talent level that he possesses.

On Thursday in his pregame media session, Servais confirmed that Paxton will make at least one more start for the Mariners in Felix Hernandez’s spot in the starting rotation.

“We are definitely going to give him another shot,” Servais said. “When we come home, he’ll make a start there and certainly hope the results are better.”

That start would be Monday to open against the Indians at Safeco Field to open the four-game series and seven-game homestand.
