AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) — Police say they have collared a serial pet thief responsible for numerous thefts of fish and other pets from Austin-area pet shops.
According to a police report, Stanley Daniel Fifer, 31, stole a type of parakeet known as a sun conure form Pet Supplies Plus at 13450 Hwy 183 on February 8, when employees noticed the bird was missing.
When the staff reviewed surveillance video, police say they saw Fifer approaching the bird's locked cage at around 7:20 p.m. The video allegedly shows Fifer unsuccessfully tampering with the lock, breaking the top cover of the cage, and grabbing the bird.
