Pitching deserts Indians as win streak is stopped at 14 games

The Cleveland Indians’ win streak was stopped at 14 games Saturday with a 9-6 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Indians’ winning streak was tied for the third-longest in the American League in the wild-card era. Only the 2001 Seattle Mariners (15) and the 2002 Oakland Athletics (20) had longer streaks.

Ran out of pitching?

On average, the Indians used fewer than three pitchers a game during the first 13 games of the streak. On Friday, they churned through nine arms, including that of Trevor Bauer, who was scheduled to start Saturday’s game.
