KANSAS CITY -- Third baseman Kyle Seager snapped a 2-2 tie by launching a two-run home run in the eighth inning off Royals reliever Justin Grimm, and the Mariners held on for a 4-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.
Grimm got the first two hitters out in the eighth and was ahead of Mitch Haniger 0-2 before losing him on a walk. Seager then jumped on a 1-1 curveball from Grimm and just got it over the fence to the right-field bullpen.
Mariners reliever Juan Nicasio worked out of a first-and-third, none-out situation in the eighth to help preserve the win.
