HOUSTON -- Mariners left-hander James Paxton was removed from Wednesday's rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma due to a blister on his left middle finger after throwing 44 pitches.
Paxton was making his third rehab start for the Rainiers, at Salt Lake City, and was expected to join the Mariners on Friday in Oakland and return to their rotation next week, but that plan may now be in jeopardy.
Paxton had allowed five hits and two runs with two strikeouts heading into the bottom of the fourth, but had to be taken out after throwing his first pitch of that inning.
