Ken Griffey Jr. stepped to the plate to face Texas pitcher Aaron Sele in the first inning of Seattle's final game at the Kingdome. The Kid, as had did many times during his Hall of Fame career, ignited the crowd with a three-run homer to right field, the final deep shot in the stadium.
"There go the flashbulbs," Mariners broadcaster Rick Rizzs said as Griffey trotted home after giving Seattle a 3-2 lead, as thousands of fans in the sold-out crowd documented the moment via photograph.
