The baseball side of Jean Segura’s story is one you hope to be able to eventually tell when you’re in the middle of it. We told a similar one not long ago in discussing another player in the trade that brought him to Seattle, Mitch Haniger.
Often times a hitter will move his hands, shift his stance or alter his grip on the bat and you hope it could — maybe, just maybe — make all the difference at the plate.
But with Segura, like Haniger, it’s not a matter of “could,” it’s a matter of “did,” as changes Segura made to his swing were integral in him putting up one of the National League’s best campaigns in 2016.
