More Mariners’ roster moves: Left-handed pitcher Tyler Olson traded to the Dodgers, outfielder Daniel Roberts designated for assignment

The Mariners made a pair of small roster moves on Friday after Hisashi Iwakuma signed his contract for the 2016 season.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Iwakuma, the team designated outfielder Daniel Robertson for assignment. The team had claimed Robertson off of waivers from the Angels on Nov. 6.

Robertson, 30, appeared in 37 games with the Angels last season in two different call-ups, hitting .280 (21-for-75) with two doubles and seven RBI. He spent the remainder of the season with Class AAA Salt Lake where he hit .265 (65-for-245) with 16 doubles, a homer and 20 RBI in 60 games.
