The Seattle Mariners continue to hang around the back of the AL wild-card race. With the non-waiver trade deadline rapidly approaching, Seattle is in serious discussions to upgrade a position of need by acquiring Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart.
Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports that the Mariners and Reds are "closing in" on a deal to send Cozart to Seattle. Dutton believes that the trade will be a two-for-two swap with the other three players involved being minor-leaguers, possibly including Mariners left-handed pitching prospect Luiz Gohara.
