One hundred years after the National Negro League was founded, the MLB gave long overdue major league baseball status to the Negro Leagues. The designation will make the stats of seven Negro Leagues from 1920 to 1948 official in the eyes of the MLB.
The move will cement the legacies of players who were denied the dignity of historical records. But what about those who played for the Seattle Steelheads?
Their home runs and strikeouts, unfortunately, won't be counted. The short-lived Steelheads team was created in 1946 as part of the newly-founded West Coast Negro Baseball League.
