In his first start of the season, Montgomery again tormented his old club, pitching into the seventh inning of a dominant performance to lead the Mariners to an 8-5 victory on a boiling hot Sunday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium.
In three career appearances against the Royals, Montgomery has allowed only one run — and that came on his final pitch Sunday, which resulted in a Brett Eibner solo home run and ended Montgomery’s streak of 16.
