PEORIA, Ariz. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today from Spring Training the following medical update on Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager:
Seager is scheduled to undergo surgery tomorrow (Tuesday, March 12) to repair the extensor tendon in his left hand. The surgery will be performed by Dr. Donald Sheridan, an orthopedic surgeon and hand specialist, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Seager will begin rehabilitation immediately and will not be available for the start of the regular season. When he is placed on the injured list, it will mark the first injured list stint of his career.
