TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Lloyd McClendon is returning to the Detroit organization as manager of the Tigers' Triple-A team.
The Toledo Mud Hens have hired McClendon for the 2016 season. McClendon managed the Seattle Mariners for two seasons before being fired in October. He also managed the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2001-05.
In between managerial stints in the majors, he spent eight seasons on Jim Leyland's staff with the Tigers.
The Mud Hens and Tigers announced McClendon's hiring Monday. McClendon says it's an honor to return to the organization.
