OAKLAND, Calif. — Marco Gonzales has been getting almost everyone out in recent weeks, but the Mariners’ left-hander had no answer for the A’s Matt Chapman on Tuesday night.
Chapman singled home two runs in the third inning, then hit a towering two-run home run in the fifth, powering the A’s to a 9-2 win over Seattle, which lost its fifth straight game.
Gonzales, 5-1 with a 2.89 earned-run average in his previous six outings, has been a breath of fresh air recently in this gruesome season. He certainly had the A’s number this year, going 3-0 with a 2.
