The Seattle Mariners added four players from Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday as rosters expanded across Major League Baseball for the September call-up period.
Utility man Shawn O’Malley and right-handed reliever Tony Zych were selected and added to the Mariners’ 40-man roster, while right-hander Jose Ramirez and outfielder Stefen Romero were recalled.
All four were in Houston on Tuesday and available to play against the Astros (5:10 p.m. Pacific Time, Root Sports).
It’s likely the Mariners will bring up more players after Tacoma’s season ends Monday. Left-handers Mike Montgomery, James Paxton and catcher Mike Zunino lead the list of candidates.
