With their bullpen taxed and overworked from Tuesday night’s 15-inning win over the Tigers, the Mariners made a series of roster moves to add an arm to the relief corp.
Right-hander Jarrett Grube had his contract selected from Class AAA Tacoma and was placed on the active 25-man roster. He’ll be in uniform for Wednesday night’s homestand finale. To make room for Grube on the active roster, outfielder Guillermo Heredia was optioned to Class AAA Tacoma after the game on Tuesday night. Grube also needed to be added to the 40-man roster. To open a spot for him, the team designated infielder Luis Sardinas for assignment.
