SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Mariners dropped Saturday’s game at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick against the Colorado Rockies by a 2–1 score. Starting pitcher Marco Gonzales made his second Cactus League start and Jantzen Witte clubbed his first home run in the one-run loss.
Gonzales was stellar on the mound, tossing 4.0 scoreless innings. He allowed just 2 hits and did not walk a batter, registering 5 strikeouts on 58 pitches and 44 strikes.
