The Mariners made the trip to Goodyear this afternoon, where right-hander Mike Leake looked sharp in 3.0 innings of work, but the Mariners fell to Cleveland, 6–5. Leake allowed just 1 hit and fanned 3 while holding the Indians scoreless. Daniel Vogelbach belted his first home run of the spring to get the scoring started for the Mariners, but their lead did not hold up.
Also in Mariners camp today, one of the newest members of the Hall of Fame — Edgar Martinez — arrived today, a preview of a “B” game on Friday and the return of Wacky Wednesday.
