The Mariners are set to sign Korean slugging first baseman Dae-Ho Lee to a minor league contract, a baseball source confirmed.
Reports of the signing broke in the Korea Times late Tuesday night. Lee has already passed his physical and the club will likely make it official later today. The Mariners scouted Lee heavily at the Premier 12 baseball tournament in November in Tokyo.
Lee is slugging first baseman that put up monster numbers this past season playing for Softbank of the Japan Professional Pacific League, hitting .282 with a .892 OPS with 20 doubles, 31 homers and 98 RBI in 141 games.
