Mariners 1st round draft pick Logan Gilbert put pen to paper on his first professional contract today. After being selected with the 14th overall pick in the 2018 Major League First-Year Player Draft earlier this month, the 6-foot-6, right-hander from Stetson University officially signed with the Mariners prior to tonight’s game vs. the Boston Red Sox.
Gilbert toured the Mariners clubhouse pre-game, meeting general manager Jerry Dipoto, manager Scott Servais, 3rd baseman Kyle Seager and others.
“It’s obviously another good day for the organization, being able to put a top-level talent like Logan Gilbert into the system,” Mariners Director of Amateur Scouting Scott Hunter said.
