SEATTLE, Wash. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners have selected right-handed pitcher Will Vest from the Detroit Tigers organization with the 12th overall pick in the Major League phase of the 2020 Rule 5 Draft. He is the first player to be selected by the Mariners from the Tigers in Rule 5 Draft history.
A player selected in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft must be kept on the Major League 26-man roster of the drafting team for the entirety of next season, and the selected player must remain active (not on the injured list) for a minimum of 90 days.
