By now you know the deal: the Mariners spent the majority of their bonus pool in the first two rounds in order to essentially get two first-round picks, meaning today’s picks are going to be more on the money-saving college side. In the fourth round, the Mariners opted to address the catching depth in the organization, taking catcher Josh Caron out of Nebraska. Caron was #300 on Baseball America’s pre-draft list, but made MLB’s Top 200.
