Mariners' Robinson Cano to undergo surgery for sports hernia

Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano rounds the bases after hitting a two-run home run against the Houston Astros in the sixth inning at Safeco Field on September 29, 2015.

Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano will undergo surgery for a sports hernia on Oct. 13, according to multiple reports.

MLB.com's Greg Johns reported that Cano will continue playing through the rest of the M's season, which ends on Sunday. Johns reported Cano's recovery period will be about six weeks long.

Cano, 32, revealed in July that he has been dealing with stomach issues since midway through the 2014 season, telling USA Today he'd been suffering from chronic acid reflux after treatment for a "common parasite" in October.
