SEATTLE -- The Mariners recalled infielder Luis Sardinas and optioned Chris Taylor back to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday, as general manager Jerry Dipoto continued juggling the roster following last weekend's injury to starting shortstop Ketel Marte.
Taylor was recalled on Sunday after Marte sprained his left thumb in Saturday's victory over the Reds in Cincinnati. The 25-year-old Taylor started Monday's game at shortstop against the A's at Safeco Field, but he committed two costly errors that led to four unearned runs in the eighth inning of a 5-0 loss.
Taylor went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts at the plate in that game, and he saw action as a pinch-runner in Tuesday's 6-5 win over Oakland, but he'll now rejoin Tacoma, where he hit .
