We love T-Mobile Park, with its sweeping skyline views and refreshing sea breeze that wafts in on the hottest summer days and the bustle and chatter of people coming together to watch a ballgame. We also, crucially, are not paid to hit baseballs in T-Mobile Park, which is why the Mariners’ blueprint for years has been to build around strong pitching and solid defense, with juuuuust enough hitting to get by. That’s a blueprint that’s often felt frustratingly limiting, playing with the offensive powerhouses of the AL West, but tonight it worked out just fine, as the pitching pitched, and everything else was just enough to secure a good ol-fashion one-run win over the Astros.
