Mariners picked up a pair of relief pitchers, one of whom throws left- and right-handed

The non-waiver trade deadline has passed, but that hasn’t stopped general manager Jerry Dipoto from making moves to bolster the Mariners’ roster for the 2016 season and beyond.

Saturday, Dipoto acquired a pair of relief pitchers for players to be named later in two separate trades.

“Right now, we have a need,” Dipoto said of his relief pitching depth. “We needed some help.”

The Mariners added a power arm to their bullpen, acquiring hard-throwing right-handed reliever Arquimedes Caminero from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for a player to be named later and a conditional player to be named later based on Caminero’s performance.
