Phoenix, Ariz. — Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the Mariners have outrighted outfielder Mallex Smith to Triple-A Tacoma.
Seattle’s Major League, 40-man, roster is now at 37 players.
Smith, 27, was optioned to Seattle’s alternate training site on Aug. 18 after batting .133 (6x45) with 2 runs scored, 2 doubles, 3 RBI, 2 walks and 2 stolen bases in 14 games with the Mariners this season.
In 2019, Smith led the Major Leagues with 46 stolen bases, while batting .
