Luis Sardinas was pressed into action today when Stefen Romero was taken out of the Mariners game against the Padres after getting hit in the knee with a ball at first base. Sardinas, who went in at third base made the most of his opportunity going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. The 22 year old who is known for his glove but has hit only .231 with a .543 OBP at the big league level shrugged off the offensive performance.
"I just put a good swing on the ball," he said.
Sardinas, primarily a shortstop said he felt comfortable at third base, a position that he played every day in winter ball two years ago.
