Joel Peralta is a Mariner no more.
The club designated the struggling reliever for assignment Thursday and replaced him on the 25-man roster with right-hander Cody Martin, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
Peralta was a surprise story out of spring training, making the team despite being a non-roster invite, thanks in part to injuries right-handers Ryan Cook and Evan Scribner. The 40-year-old Peralta was solid if unspectacular in April, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and a .161 batting average against in nine appearances spanning nine innings.
In his past 10 outings, he served up five homers and posted a 10.
