Every great pitcher has to start somewhere.
The Mariners hope tonight's starter, Taijuan Walker, is close to breaking out of that "starting" phase. So does staff ace Felix Hernandez, a great pitcher who knows from experience about being labeled a phenom but struggling at first in the MLB.
Hernandez talked to "Danny, Dave and Moore" on Friday about the 22-year-old Walker, who has shown flashes of brilliance but owns a rough 1-5 record, 7.33 ERA and 1.84 WHIP in nine starts this season.
"He's a guy who's gonna learn a little bit more," Hernandez said of Walker.
