Luis Sardinas was pressed into action Thursday when Stefen Romero was taken out of the Mariners' game against the Padres after getting hit in the knee with a ball at first base. Sardinas, who went in at third base, made the most of his opportunity, going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and four RBIs.
The 22-year-old Sardinas, who is known for his glove, has hit only .231 with a .543 OBP at the big league level and shrugged off the offensive performance.
"I just put a good swing on the ball," he said.

Sardinas, primarily a shortstop, said he felt comfortable at third base, a position that he played every day in winter ball two years ago.
