MINNEAPOLIS--The New York Yankees have had interest in Dustin Ackley for some time now and Thursday afternoon they completed a deal to bring him to the Bronx. The number 2 pick of the 2009 draft is no longer a Mariner.
"It's pretty crazy. I am going to miss everybody for sure. I've been with this organization my whole career so to say that I am leaving it now is kind of crazy," Ackley told a group of reporters outside the visiting clubhouse at Target Field shortly after receiving the news that he had been traded.
In return for Ackley the Mariners get a pair of minor leaguers, OF Ramon Flores and RHP Jose Ramirez.
