Mariners move up Monday’s Cactus League game an hour to avoid pending rain

PEORIA, Ariz. — With Monday’s forecast predicting afternoon rain in the Phoenix area, starting somewhere after 3 p.m., the Mariners and Royals decided to move up their Cactus League game at Peoria Stadium an hour. First pitch will be at 12:10 p.m. in Peoria and 11:10 a.m. back home in the Puget Sound.

“I got a text late last night saying me might have a few issues,” manager Scott Servais said. “There’s a pretty good chance that it’s supposed to start raining around 3 o’clock. I don’t know if it’s going to be raining hard at that point, but it keeps getting moved up based on what the grounds crew and guys here are telling me.
