After meeting for two hours Monday morning with new Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto, manager Lloyd McClendon told reporters he's hopeful he returns to manage the club next season.
McClendon's contract runs through 2016.
"Well, I'm under contract to manage next year and hopefully I'll manage that club," McClendon said. "Beyond that, if you're looking for security in this game, you're in the wrong business. That's me and every other manager."
McClendon's job security became a topic of discussion when Jack Zduriencik was fired in late August, well after the Mariners had played themselves out of the American League playoff race.
