Mariners lose outfielder Jacob Hannemann to Cubs on a waiver claim

Jacob Hannemann is going back to Chicago. The speedy outfielder was claimed off waivers on Thursday by his former team — the Cubs.

Meanwhile, reliever Ryan Garton cleared waivers and was outrighted to Class AAA Tacoma.

It leaves two open spots on the Mariners 40-man roster, which will be needed with players on the 60-day disabled list having to be re-added to the 40-man roster following the World Series.
