SEATTLE -- Mariners left-hander David Rollins was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Friday, which opened a spot on Seattle's 40-man roster.
Rollins' departure leaves Dean Kiekhefer, claimed off waivers from the Cardinals two weeks ago, as the only left-handed relief specialist currently on Seattle's roster. Switch-pitcher Pat Venditte is regarded by the Mariners as better from the left side, and the club also has rotation candidate Ariel Miranda as a potential bullpen option. But Seattle clearly will be looking to add more depth at that position this offseason.
