A show that I enjoy very much is The Good Place. I like it for many reasons, not least of which is the pitch-perfect cast, but also because, in a world that is getting harder to love every day, it presents the world as worthy of loving; argues, in fact, that it is necessary to love it and the people within, and not for any “moral dessert,” but simply because being good is important, and putting good things into the world is important, and the right thing to do, and doing the right thing matters. The show also makes the audacious claim that most people are good; flawed, to varying degrees, but mostly good, and with a pathway to being better.
