PEORIA, Ariz. — Seattle Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that left-handed pitcher Aaron Fletcher was claimed off waivers by Pittsburgh.
Seattle’s 40-man Major League roster is now at 38 players.
Fletcher, 26, appeared in parts of 2 Major League seasons (2020–21) with Seattle, going 0–0 with a 12.38 ERA (11 ER, 12.38 IP) with 8 walks and 9 strikeouts in 10 games. He made his Major League debut with Seattle on Aug. 22, 2020 vs. Texas, tossing a scoreless 8th inning with 1 strikeout. He was acquired by Seattle via trade with Washington along with LHP Taylor Guilbeau and RHP Elvis Alvarado in exchange for LHP Roenis Elías and RHP Hunter Strickland on July 31, 2019.
