Mariners’ Hisashi Iwakuma satisfied with progress after final spring start

PEORIA, Ariz. — To stay on his normal rest, the Mariners’ Hisashi Iwakuma started for Class AAA Tacoma on Thursday against the San Diego Padres’ Class AAA team. He worked two innings as planned, giving up a run on two hits with a walk and two strikeouts. He threw 24 pitches with 14 strikeouts.

“I’m satisfied with where I’m at,” Iwakuma said through interpreter Antony Suzuki. “Like I said after my last start the other day, I’m ready for the season to start. I just wanted to make some adjustments and tune up a few of the pitches, and I was able to do that.
