SEATTLE, Wash. — Mariners General Manager Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has requested unconditional release waivers on right-handed pitcher Casey Lawrence to allow him to pursue an opportunity to play in Japan.
This roster move leaves the Mariners Major League, 40-man roster, at 35 players.
Lawrence, 30, appeared in 5 stints with Seattle in 2018, Opening Day-April 14, May 1–12, July 13–28, Aug. 9–13 and Sept. 4-end of season. Overall, he went 1–0 with a 7.33 ERA (19 ER, 23.1 IP) in 11 relief appearances with the Mariners.
