The Seattle Mariners (16-11) managed to hold on for a 9-8 win in a wild one against the Oakland Athletics (13-16) on Wednesday afternoon. The Mariners completed their first series sweep of the year with today’s win. Mike Montgomery (1-0, 2.63 ERA) was credited with the win for Seattle, and John Axford (2-1, 1.29 ERA) took the loss for the home side. Steve Cishek allowed the tying run to reach safely in the ninth, but recovered in time to record his 8th save of the season.
