After a road trip in which they decidedly did not “get right,” the Mariners return home to start their second homestand of the year. Up first they’ll have to deal with the Cubs, and also their fans, who will eagerly descend on T-Mobile for a rare chance to see the Cubs here in Seattle. These two teams don’t have a ton of history together unless you count the 2016 Trade That Broke My Heart, in which the Mariners traded away my beloved Mike Montgomery for Daniel Vogelbach during a game where I was in attendance. Some say they can still hear the howl hanging over the ballpark, an invisible tapestry hovering just over the home bullpen.
