After struggling with his mechanics July 1o in a rehab start with short-season, Class-A Everett, Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was much sharper Friday night for Triple-A Tacoma in his final tuneup before returning to the big leagues.
Hernandez allowed one run on five hits and a walk over 5u2154 innings in the Rainiers' 7-6 win over Colorado Springs. He struck out seven, threw 75 pitches and picked up the win. It marked an improvement from his only other rehab start, when The King was rusty and allowed three runs over 3u2154 innings for the AquaSox.
The plan is for Hernandez to return to the Mariners rotation Wednesday against the Chicago White Sox, marking his first appearance in the big leagues since May 27.
