OAKLAND, Calif. — The Tacoma Rainiers bid for a Pacific Coast League championship ended on Saturday night at Cheney Stadium with a 5-4 loss to El Paso. It eliminated the Rainiers from the first-round series, ending their season. But for three players, it means a trip to the big leagues.
With Tacoma done for the season, the Mariners plan to add at least three players from the Rainiers for depth with the expanded rosters in September.
“They’ll report tomorrow in Anaheim,” manager Scott Servais said. “It will be just a small number of guys. We’ll make sure they get there before we (announce) it.
