SAN DIEGO — The Mariners defeated the Padres by a 4–1 score in a Monday night exhibition contest at Petco Park. Right-hander Bryce Miller made his final start before the regular season, getting the victory while tossing 4.0 innings of one-run ball.
Jorge Polanco supplied a two-run double for the Mariners in the top of the third inning off San Diego starter Dylan Cease, while Ty France went 3-for-3 with a run batted in against his former team, the Padres. In total, Seattle totaled eight hits compared to San Diego’s three.
