The Mariners made a pair of minor moves on Friday afternoon. They completed their recent trade with the Braves that netted them right-handed starting pitchers Rob Whalen and Max Povse. Seattle sent former first-round pick Alex Jackson and player to be named later. That player was left-handed pitcher Tyler Pike.
A third-round pick in the 2012 draft, Pike spent all of 2016 season at Class A Bakersfield, posting a 6-5 record with a 4.01 ERA in 25 starts. In 125 1/3 innings, he struck out 134 batters but also walked 64. In 5 season in the Mariners’ farm system, he went 26-26 with a 4.
